Throwback Thursday!

I know you have all seen the "Throwback Thursday" posts on Facebook and other social networks out there.  Today I saw this photo from Theresa of Unravel Me and I just knew it could be fixed!  This is a Polaroid from the mid 70's that is cracked and suffering from some color fading.

A few minutes in photoshop and a little bit of love is all it took to make this photo sing!  I love, love, love fixing cherished photos like this!  It makes me so happy to bring life to the things we thought were only memories!

If you have a box of old, well loved photos laying around that may need a little bit of TLC drop me a quick email with a few snapshots of what needs to be repaired.  I can give you a quote on how much it would cost to scan, fix and save them in a digital format.  And don't worry, you will get all of your originals back along with a DVD of your restored photos!

Travels...

This summer is shaping up to be pretty fantastic!  We have plans to travel around quite a bit.  The kids are going to each set of Grandparents houses for a couple weeks, and I will be shooting in a bunch of places throughout the pacific northwest!  I feel so incredibly lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the country!

Processing film in coffee

When I saw an article about developing film in instant coffee I was super stoked!  I thought I'd just dive it and give it a shot.  Then a couple years went by and I saw the same article and thought to myself I really should give this a try!  After a few more months and some thrifting, finding and piecing together enough equipment I dug around and found the recipe to "cook film" in my kitchen.  

After just one roll I was hooked!  Hooked I tell you!  It took me back to my darkroom days in high school.  Just one roll of 24, some instant Folgers, a wee bit of fixer and I fell in love with photography again.  

Now, developing in my kitchen has had it's ups and downs.  I've shed more than a few tears after pulling some 120 out of the tank with no pictures to show for my hours of work.  I have felt sick to my stomach when a roll of my darling kids (hair bushed and wearing matching clothes) didn't turn out!  But, I've learned and have moved on...time to go throw a couple of rolls in the tank and see what comes out!
